Voting Delegates
- reflect the opinions of their locals PTAs
- are given the opportunity to express these opinions
General Council Meeting Guidelines
- Proposals and Motions
- may be submitted to the Council President
- may be submitted to the Council Board of Directors
- may be submitted at a General Meeting
- Proposals and Motions Brought to Consideration
- may result in action taken by the Council delegates
- may be referred to committee by the Council President or majority vote of Council delegates present and voting
- may result in no action taken (motion failed)
- Agenda
- drawn up by the Council President
- may be changed by the Council President or by the direction of a 2/3 vote of Council delegates present and voting
- Debate and Discussion for Council Delegates
- should rise and wait to be recognized
- state name and local PTA representing our Council Board of Directors position
- cannot speak more than twice on one subject
- length of debate will not exceed fifteen (15) minutes with each speaker allotted a maximum of two (2) minutes
- the Chair shall give priority to members who have not spoken on a subject
- Motions
- must be in writing and filed with the Council Secretary
